Sara's been quite ill, but she's fine now.

This sentence comes from MACMILLAN (fine).

My questions is: If we say 'Sara was quite ill, but she's fine now', is there any difference between the two sentences?

Could I ask native English teachers to help me please? Thank you in advance.

Both are OK, but the second one is kind of redundant because the simple past verb 'was' says it all: She was ill, but not any more. The implication here is that she is better now.
