Default out of death

1. What does it mean?

Does it mean that someone's still alive after a life threatening situation?

2. Is it common usage?

Thanks

Could you put together at least one sentence with that phrase in it?

Hi RB.
Someone asked this question but didn't provide any context. I got this from the Web.

Can you let me know their definitions in each quote?

Thanks.

Something/someone dies, but the organism revives and lives again. [Seems to be a book of sci-fi/fantasy short stories]

"Out of death, comes new life, waking up inside the beauty, the beauty of all things The seeds that burn, could they re-seed so easily,..."
This could be referring to plants, which produce seeds, die, and are regenerated from their seeds.

"I suspect that the only possible development now is to begin finding a way to once more imagine ourselves into and out of death, though I also feel quite certain that the old religious palliatives, at least those related to the Christian idea of heaven, are inadequate."
Seems to relate to the spiritual question of what happens after death. Is there some kind of survival or not.
As you see, there are many possible interpretations, but all in some way indicate survival / regeneration following death.
