Why do we say: 'it is necessary that you be'?

Is "timely advised" a BrE expression? In the US, you'd say "advised of this situation in a timely manner."

I have never seen 'timely' used as an adverb in this way, only ever as an adjective. Of Oxford, Cambridge, American Heritage and a couple of others, there is only one dictionary that gives a listing as an adverb, and that's Merriam-Webster.

To this British ear, it sounds most odd.
I'd agree with Barb_D :
"...advised of this situation in a timely manner."

This sounds nice but
The choice was between the given two sentences.

Which of the following two sentences is correct?

Hold on.
From my point of view (and possibly Bard_D's,) YOU HAD ANSWERED THAT IN YOUR POST. There was no "I think..." or doubt expressed as to your choice. If your choice had been wrong, Barb_D or myself would have put in our penny's worth.

Barb-D pointed out that the sentence still sounded odd; and I agreed.
