    What are informal expressions used to describe someone overweight ?

    fat , thick , flushy ,....?

    fat, obese, stout, full-figured, corpulent, gross, fleshy, plump, portly, chubby, rotund, paunchy, potbellied, flabby, well-upholstered, broad in the beam; informal porky, tubby, blubbery, pudgy. antonym skinny.

    Not necessarily negative. Some guys like chubby chicks.
    Another word that the Americans are using is "big", to take away any connotation of "fat".
    So you get clothes for big girls, big girl's nights out, etc.
