Hello
Relating a well known writer I read this sentence .
I had been received in catholic Church in 1926 and was commited to visit Mexico in 1936 .
Could tell me more about these tenses ? I think there are correct .

I'm not quite sure what the connection between becoming Catholic and the Mexico visit is, but there must be one, hence the use of the past perfect to emphasise that the conversion came first.
