A society's progress and development depends/depend on that of its people's.

I."depends or depend" , which one is right?
II. Both sentences are fine?

It depends on how you view "progress and development". Both of these are possible:

1. [They] depend on...
2. [It] depends on...

Progress and development .Here two subjects express one idea.It takes singular verb .
Here "depends" is correct.
