Default disturbed/bothered

Is it OK to say, "I'm totally disturbed"?

What does it mean? Is it OK to say, "I'm totally bothered" too?

Thanks

Is it OK to say, "I'm totally disturbed"? Yes, but it sounds like a Valley Girl teenager is saying it, or that it's from a song lyric.

What does it mean? It can mean "I am so disturbed by the situation that I can't stand it" - or - it could mean, "I am so upset that I am completely out of it."

Is it OK to say, "I'm totally bothered" too? Yes, but what do you mean? "I am completely upset"? "I am being bothered by others to my limit"?

Hi susiedqq.

You wrote: "I am so upset that I am completely out of it."

Can you explain the quote above?

You wrote: "I am being bothered by others to my limit"

Can you explain the quote above?

_____________

Do 'I'm totally disturbed' and 'I'm totally bothered' have the same meaning?
Are both usages common in the US?

Thanks
