Default Usage of 'thus2

hello I have a doubt about the usage of thus. So this is how I used it;

"...science studies the way of nature (chemistry, biology, physics, etc.) thus it studies..."

now the problem is do I need to put a semicolon or anything between ) and thus ?

Default Re: Usage of 'thus2

It is difficult to answer without the whole sentence and its context. For instance, what does "it" after "thus" refer to? And is "studies" the noun or the verb?
