Default tie up the loose ends

Hi

Can I say that I'm tying the loose ends when I'm talking about my essay for example, I make some corrections etc., or is it used in some other context?

Default Re: tie up the loose ends

It is informal, but perfectly acceptable.

I have written my essay, but I need to tie up some loose ends before submitting it.

It implies there are some elements in the essay which need to be sorted out and clarified.
