A person can translate German into English, but I can't translate myself into English - it doesn't make sense: I am not a foreign language.

I will translate it myself, into English.
Here 'it' would refer back to some written passage or speech that the person will translate.

I'm expected to know! I've been speaking this language long enough.
Don't let that intimidate you from getting in there and giving it a go yourself.
The worst that can happen is, you learn something!
