Is 'gather information about murderer of a man from his friends' grammatically correct, in other words does 'his' refer to 'man'?

I believe it should read:

'.... gather information about the murderer of a man from his friends.'

Yes it's now gramatically correct
Yes, 'his' does refer to 'man'
