Is "echoes of the pentagram" a simile or a metaphor?

Neither. The noun echo means:

A repetition or an imitation; e.g. a fashion that is an echo of an earlier style.

A remnant or vestige; e.g., found echoes of past civilizations while examining artifacts in the Middle East.

Possibly synesthesia, a figure of speech in which one sensory experience is described in terms of another. Here, echoes (sound) and pentagram (sight).

Well okay, I guess this helped but I had hoped it was a metaphor so that I could use it for my report. At least I won't get points taken off on my report.
Thanks nawoula and soup!
