so and such
Hi there,
What is the difference between the following sentences?
I have lived on this estate for many years, and I have never seen so many environmental problems.
I have lived on this estate for many years, and I have never seen such many environmental problems.
Thanks
pete

Re: so and such
For things you can count, use "so many" or "so few." -- ... so many problems.
For things you cannot count, use "as much" or "as little." No one has ever created as much trouble as he has, he made as little noise as possible.
For adjectives, use "such."
I've never seen such a cute baby, such a terrible mess, such a happy bride, etc.

Such is usually followed by as+singular.
....I have never seen environmental problems of such magnitude.
