Default increased role or increased role

Dear Sir,

What is the different between: increased role / increasing role?

I open dictionary, increasing is adjective. What about increased ?

Do I understand correctly that increased role means role which is increased (passive meaning)?. Increasing role means role that increases or that is increasing (active meaning)?

Is my understanding is correct?

Thanks a lot

Default Re: increased role or increased role

'increased' is past participle, and modifies the noun 'role'.

increased role: a role that has become more important.

'increasing' is prepent participle, and modifies the noun 'role' as well, but with an active meaning.

The role is increasing, it is becoming more important.
