Home is where the Heart is. Home is a place of origin. It's not only our source, it's our goal: We leave
home (Source) in the morning and return
home (Goal) at night. Home is both the Source and the Goal of our movements, so adding 'to' to express 'movement towards an end-piont' is redundant. Home
is itself the ultimate goal, right?. 8)
overseas, being a
fixed source of origin, shares semantic similarities with
home. It's possible given its history that it refers to both the Source and the Goal (i.e., immigrants: from Europe or America back to Europe or America).
All the best, :D
