Arrow grammar

Hi, dear teachers,

A famous Russian orientalist P.Melioransky regards the manuscript's date as 16th – early 17th centuries.

Is this sentence grammatically correct? Thanks.

(Not a teacher) In terms of prescriptive grammar, I would say,
A famous Russian orientalist P.Melioransky regards the date of the manuscript as 16th – early 17th centuries.
Except this, it is absolutely grammatical correct.
