Question What "Telling the tooth" means?

Could you instruct me the meaning of "telling the tooth".
Following is the sentence the phrase appears. It explains about sharks.

"Telling the tooth! A single shark may have as many as 30,000 teeth throughout the course of its life."

Your assistance will be highly appreciated.

As far as I know there is no English expression such as "Telling the tooth." The only thing that I can think of is that tooth is a mispelling of the word "truth !" Then you will have sentences such as :-

"To tell you the truth" "If the truth be known" etc...
    Regards
