I m worried if these sentences are correct and fluent. i would be happy to hear any comment o r doubt.

It looks fine to me. The only alteration I might make to omit the article before British rule and British economic policies.

We don't know when the reading of the history was done though and by whom.
Well, 'seems' or 'seemed' are both acceptable I guess.
