I made it my aim to find another way of expressing the content of the following sentences: I have a good mind not to let you go out. With such a cold you ought to (should) be in bed. There are two another ways of expressing the above mentioned sentences. Would you be kind enough tell me which of them is the better one? I don’t think I should let you go out. With such a cold you ought to (should) be in bed. I don’t feel inclined to let you go out. With such a cold you ought to (should) be in bed. Thank you for your efforts. Regards. V. Last edited by vil; 03-Jun-2008 at 16:48.

Neither sentence works. Be strongly inclined to, as in She had a good mind to tell him everything. A slightly weaker form of this idiom is have a mind to, as in I have a mind to spend my next vacation in the desert. Formerly this idiom was sometimes put as have a great mind to. [c. 1400] Also see half a mind.Idioms: have a fling -- have a puff

Hi Soup, Thank you for your categorical repudiation of my frivolous and clumsy modification of the original sentences in my post above. Thank you also for the further information as well as for the complementary links which gave me a perfect opportunity to inquire further into the matter in question. Thank you again for your kindness. Regards. V.
