    Default all irony?

    Dear all,

    Do you think ...

The theory has trouble explaining all discourse irony.

    could mean:

    all instances of discourse irony?

Is the singular (irony) ok? Any other suggestions?

    Thanks a lot!

That would be my guess too, and, yes, irony (singular) is right. The sentence, however, would be much more exact if worded along these lines:
Ex: The thoery cannot account for discourse irony.

    I'm not a teacher.

There are my provocative thoughts of a layman.

'All humor is irony but not all irony is humor'?
all discourse irony = all verbal irony
…he would have trouble explaining his own writings.
that even adults have trouble comprehending irony.
I have trouble explaining exactly what this ...
Has trouble explaining how things work…

The theory has trouble explaining all discourse irony.

In my humble opinion this sentence may stand so without changes.

    Regards.
