Car break down

First I would like to tahnk you for the car I had bought from your garage a fortnight ago. A menber os the staff who attended me was polite and really helpful.

I would like to let you know that the car engines broked down after a week of purchased it. I brought the car back, so that could be fixed. I was shocked when I was told that the repair would cost me £400!.

The car cost me £700,therefore I could not pay the amount required above.I would be grateful If you could give me my money back.

I wouldn't start this letter by thanking the dealer for selling me a car that immediately broke down

Last week I bought a car from your garage, with the assistance of a most helpful member of your staff.

However, a week later the engine ceased working and I returned the car for repair. I was shocked when I was told that the repair would cost me £400! The car only cost £700, and as there is a six-month warranty I should not be expected to pay for this repair.

As the car was clearly not fit for use when sold, I require full reimbursement.

The orgininal draft didn't mention there's a six-month warranty though.

Just a question, reimbursement and refund - is there a difference?

In the UK, second-hand cars bought from garages normally carry a short warranty on repairs. If they don't, there is something dodgy about the vendor or the vehicle.

Since I take it this letter is an exercise, I inserted that comment as that would be what is usual.
