Hello
I am applying for a CELTA course and need some help with the following questions to complete the application. Would appreciate your knowledge very much. thank you.
Which of the following sentences is the odd one out and why? I'm not sure of the grammar rules that apply here.
- I'm not used to the noise yet
- they used to work in a circus
- didn't there use to be a shop there?
- I never used to smoke
- It didn't use to be so dirty
Are there any exceptions to these rules?
1.
The past simple form of the verb is used to describe finished events or states.
2. 'Some' is used in statements, 'any' in negatives and questions
3. 'Can' (modal verb) is used to express ability.
Write the correct way to say this and explain why
How long are you knowing Nathan? I would write this as follows but not sure of the rule here either. "How long have you know Nathan"
Thanks very much once again if you can help me. - Wannabe1
