Post please smooth my word order!

Hi everyone,
my name is Heidi. I have to write an essay and came across some problems while writing. There are some sentences which sound a bit queer and I'm never quiet sure if they are OK or not. I was wondering if anyone could help me ?
Thank you very much for your time, it will surely be most helpful for me!

1 He lives in a world of usefulness but he holds against this view.
(Meaning: He does not like the idea of a world determined by
usefulness)
2 He has the opinion that.... (It does not sound nice but is it
grammatically OK?)

3 a) Under the table is a carpet.
b) Under the table there is a carpet.
(Is sentence a) grammatically OK? Or do you have to use b)?)

4 Are these sentences correct:
a) I find it good.
b) I find it is good.

5 Is this word order acceptable:
His created paintings are beautiful.

6 Using reported speech, when do you have to use an introducing verb in the PRESENT tense and when does it have to be in the PAST tense?
Example: I write my essay and I want to quote from an interview ( Ihave the interview as printed text on my desk).
a) In the interview he said that...
b) In the interview he says that...

7 Are they both correct/ Is b) acceptable?
a) Behind the table there is a chair.
b) Behind the table is a chair.

8 How do you translate these sentences:
a) Man muss nur in's Internet gehen
b) Ich habe bei Google gesurft.
c) Im Internet (fand ich diesen Aufsatz).

9 Are companies persons or things?
Nike, who/which sell a lot of shoes every year...

10 Is this word order acceptable:
Typical for him is that he likes ice-cream.

11 Can you say..
He is critical with art. (Er ist kritisch in Bezug auf Kunst)

12 Is this word order OK?
In the corner of the church is placed the chair of Peter.

13 Sometimes you have to use "when" instead of "if". But do you also have to apply the rules for if-clauses for these sentences?

14 Which sentence is correct? I believe that the verb has to go with the subject but sentence b) sounds OK, doesn't it?
a) His hobby is the colours of the impressionists.
b) His hobby are the colours of the impressionists.

15 Are they both OK?
a) It's a combination of different forms to create a new form.
b) It's a combination of different forms in order to create a new form.

c)The concepts seem to me different.
d) The concepts seem to me to be different.

16 Is that OK:
This concept he shows in his paintings.

I know it's quite a lot but it would be most helpful for me if you answered these questions... Heidi.

1 He lives in a world of usefulness but he holds against this view.
(Meaning: He does not like the idea of a world determined by
usefulness) "He lives in a utilitarian world but does not like it."
2 He has the opinion that.... (It does not sound nice but is it
grammatically OK?) It is perfectly good.

3 a) Under the table is a carpet.
b) Under the table there is a carpet.
(Is sentence a) grammatically OK? Or do you have to use b)?) Both are acceptable. The first is an elision of the second.

4 Are these sentences correct:
a) I find it good.
b) I find it is good. Yes - but what is the context?

5 Is this word order acceptable:
His created paintings are beautiful.Yes

6 Using reported speech, when do you have to use an introducing verb in the PRESENT tense and when does it have to be in the PAST tense? That will depend on your narrative structure.
Example: I write my essay and I want to quote from an interview ( Ihave the interview as printed text on my desk).
a) In the interview he said that...
b) In the interview he says that...

7 Are they both correct/ Is b) acceptable?
a) Behind the table there is a chair.
b) Behind the table is a chair. see comment #3

8 How do you translate these sentences:
a) Man muss nur in's Internet gehen One must/need only go to the Internet
b) Ich habe bei Google gesurft. I have searched on Google
c) Im Internet (fand ich diesen Aufsatz). I found this essay on the Internet

9 Are companies persons or things?
Nike, who/which sell a lot of shoes every year... Neither = they are business entities. You would normally use "which" and "sells"

10 Is this word order acceptable:
Typical for him is that he likes ice-cream. Just. "It is typical of him that he likes ice-cream" is better.

11 Can you say..
It is critical with art. (Er ist kritisch in Bezug auf Kunst) Yes

12 Is this word order OK?
In the corner of the church is placed the chair of Peter. Yes

13 Sometimes you have to use "when" instead of "if". But do you also have to apply the rules for if-clauses for these sentences? ??example

14 Which sentence is correct? I believe that the verb has to go with the subject but sentence b) sounds OK, doesn't it? No - you have a singular subject with a plural verb. My other comment would be that it is an obscure sentence. How can the colours of the Impressionists be a hobby?
a) His hobby is the colours of the Impressionists.
b) His hobby are the colours of the impressionists.

15 Are they both OK? Neither. "It is a combination of different forms used to make/making/used to create/creating a new form"
a) It's a combination of different forms to create a new form.
b) It's a combination of different forms in order to create a new form.

c)The concepts seem to me different.
d) The concepts seem to me to be different. Both are fine.

16 Is this OK:
This concept he shows in his paintings.Yes

I know it's quite a lot but it would be most helpful for me if you answered these questions... Heidi.

Smile Re: please smooth my word order!

Thank you very much for your quick answer!
Some problems seem to be fine now but there are still some uncertainties for me:

1 He lives in a world of usefulness but he holds against this view.
(Meaning: He does not like the idea of a world determined by
usefulness) "He lives in a utilitarian world but does not like it."
...but can you say: ..he "holds against this view"?

2 He has the opinion that.... (It does not sound nice but is it
grammatically OK?) It is perfectly good.

3 a) Under the table is a carpet.
b) Under the table there is a carpet.
(Is sentence a) grammatically OK? Or do you have to use b)?) Both are acceptable. The first is an elision of the second.

4 Are these sentences correct:
a) I find it good.
b) I find it is good. Yes - but what is the context?
context a), b) : I like it (his concept of art)

5 Is this word order acceptable:
His created paintings are beautiful.Yes

6 Using reported speech, when do you have to use an introducing verb in the PRESENT tense and when does it have to be in the PAST tense? That will depend on your narrative structure.
Example: I write my essay and I want to quote from an interview ( Ihave the interview as printed text on my desk).
a) In the interview he said that...
b) In the interview he says that...
which alternative would you choose for the situation explained (quoting from an interview that I have as a written text before me) , a or b?

I don't quite understand... Is it not possible to say "He is critical with art"?

12 Is this word order OK?
In the corner of the church is placed the chair of Peter. Yes

Well I agree, the content does not sound very logical. But as far as grammar is concerned would you decide for b)?

15 Are they both OK? Neither. "It is a combination of different forms used to make/making/used to create/creating a new form"
a) It's a combination of different forms to create a new form.
b) It's a combination of different forms in order to create a new form.

c)The concepts seem to me different.
d) The concepts seem to me to be different. Both are fine.

16 Is this OK:
This concept he shows in his paintings.Yes

So again, thank you very much !
I wish I could also help you with something but I guess I can't.
