| | Strong verbs Could you please advise me what strong verbs are and how to use them? English is my second language, I was born in The Netherlands. I'm writing my memoir and have been advised to use strong verbs.

| | Re: Strong verbs Hi - strong verbs are used to emphasize the meaning of the sentence and make the reader visualize what is presented, some examples:
- He looked at the picture. --> he gazed at the picture.
- The pitcher threw the ball a little low. --> The pitcher tossed the ball a little low.
These are similar to synonyms of the word but directly fit into the sentence easily.
