Climatic class N

Hello Everyone,

The following part is taken from BSH glass standard test! I would like to know what climate class N and Climatic class ST mean here? what does " thrawing the glass door " mean here? Does it mean melt the door ?

7. Thawing the glass door

Trial conditions:

Room temperature = 25 °C +/- 1 K

Climatic class N: 70% - 2 % relative humidity

Climatic class ST: 80% - 2% relative humidity minus

The device is operated at the lowest control setting when empty.

Built in devices are to be assessed in their niches.

Testing heating performance

Heating surrounding the insulated glass frame:

Heating system as per drawing

Resistance value of heating system as per drawing

a) Measurement of the resistance value as per drawing

b) Evaluation: Contact between the heating conductor and the insulated glass frame

(destructive test)

Installation position as per drawing

c) Evaluation in the wet room

Testing thawing

Checking Directive: 5700 0000060122 / Rev, Seq: A, 1 / Date: 14.12.2005

Status: To Request Page: 4 of: 4

Permissible thawing:

On insulated glass frame: area < 50 cm²

No escaping drops

For USA:

All material should be RU approved (recognized UL approved material)

For Europe:

The glass door has a double-insulated heating system according to VDE SELV/PELV.

The PS no. for heating is 1 709 918 967

Climate Class N and ST are the names of the two variables for climate in which the tests are carried out. I presume a testing on doors would be done under different climatic conditions ex. tropical climate and temperate climate.
I can't tell from the figures. What is relative humidity minus?

I thought thawing means a change from molten state (as in ice) to liquid state (water). I don't know why it is applied to a door. Surely, you don't test a door by heating it until it melts. Sorry, it doesn't make sense to me though I am in the construction line.

First, many thanks for your kind and prompt help! You are right, I think, N and ST , represents two different climate types as the door are fixed onto the fridge and in different weather conditions different requirements are raised for the doors!

With regards to relative humidity minus, can we translate it into 最低相对空气湿度？
I am waiting here for teachers' answers!

And from the context and the structure of the insulated glass, thraw here means "melt". It refers to the melting of the adhesive which is used to connect glass sheet, but not refer to the glass itself!
