Default How to put a word "empathy" in the sentense?

Hi Teachers,

I would like to know how to put a word "empathy" in a sentense, which you'd like to express your feeling to someone whom his or her father passed away. Thank you very much

If speaking or writing directly to the person,I wouldn't- I'd offer my 'commiserations'. I'd use empathy to describe the process and not when using it.
