(C) were
(D) had been


2..........a lion, he would be frightened.
(A) If he sees
(B) If he had seen
(C) Unless he see
(D) Were he to see

Well, in number one i think it may be a or b but in number two it's kind of hard, I know c is completely wrong so I'm kind of confused with the other three.

I stated that (A) (B) (C) would work. That was a typo of the mind. (C) is NOT a possibility.
