1.Can you say "I'm off home off now" meaning I'm not at home? Does that make sense?

2.When do you use can and when do you use could?

3. Do you say "ought not to" or "ought to not"?

4. Does a couple of years necessarily mean that they are only two?

5. 1. I will go to the country tomorrow if it.....fine.

I think this one is either a or b

6. 2..........a lion, he would be frightened.

could is a more polite form of modal verb. Example: Could you do me a favor?

No. It means pair. It can be several pairs, Example: Can you lend me a couple of dollars?

This is an improbable or imaginary condition.See the key word would.
the options are:1)If he saw a lion,he would be frightened.(Odd).
2)Were he to see a lion, he would be frightened.correct

If you cosider that this is not an improbable condition , the answer is :If he sees a lion , he will be punished.( this option is not given.

Can is used to express ability.I can do this.Ican't solve this problem.
Could is used in polite requests or permissions.
Could you help me in solving this problem?

Ought not to.
