paraphrasing words and word combination from five sentences

There are five original sentences as well as their modifications as a result of paraphrasing of some words and words combinations from the former one.

Would you be kind enough to examine their proper English sounding?

1.1. It will cost you a handsome sum of money.
1.2. It will cost you a substantial sum of money.

2.1. You won’t deceive him.
2.2. You won’t take him in.

3.1. They don’t need such obsolete methods.
3.2. They have no use for such obsolete methods.

4.1. This is what I’m driving at.
4.2. This is what I’m leading to.

5.1. I have a good mind to put the matter before him.
5.2. I’m inclined to put the matter before him.

4.1. This is what I’m driving at. This is more emphatic than 4.2.
4.2. This is what I’m leading up to. I think it is better with 'up'.

5.1. I have a good mind to put the matter before him. This is more emphatic than 5.2.
5.2. I’m inclined to put the matter before him.
