Once you conjugate the verb "to do," then the main verb remains in the bare infinitive -- that is, the "to verb" form without the "to."
You have "he did" so "screamed" becomes "scream."
You have "she does" so "writes" becomes "write.
What he did was scream.
What she does is write science fiction.
