have, will have, comparative degree, 's
Dear teachers,
I have four questions to ask:
No.1
You__________ for another two years before you graduate from this university.
a. will be studying b. will have studied
I think the key should be "b" but the key is "a". Could you please explain why?
No.2
The farmers had the tractors________ 24 hours during the harvest season.
a. working b. work
The key is "a". But I think "b" is better. Could you please explain it to me?
No.3
The higher the the standard of living, the __________.
a. greater is the amount of goods consumed
b. greater the amount of goods consumed
The key is "b". I think "b" is chosen because it is paralled with "a" in structure. But there isn't predicate in this sentence. So is "a" possible?
No.4
She is of ______________.
a. the same age as my mother's
b. the same age as my mother
I have once asked the question of 's. But I still made a mistake this time. I chose "a" but the key is "b". Could you please explain why is correct?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Have a nice weekend.

No.1

a. will be studying b. will have studied
you need to use a continuous form because it will take some time (your studies), you may use will have been studying, but if the centence ends with by (date)
No.2
The farmers had the tractors________ 24 hours during the harvest season.
a. working b. work
The key is "a". But I think "b" is better. Could you please explain it to me?
work-present simple, which is used when we talk about habits, things which happen usually, always etc. Continuous- it underlines the fact that the action takes some time
No.3
The higher the the standard of living, the __________.
a. greater is the amount of goods consumed
b. greater the amount of goods consumed
Check this structure in your grammar book. B is the only option.
No.4
She is of ______________.
a. the same age as my mother's
b. the same age as my mother
change my mother's in your mind into hers...I don't know how I should explain this case...

Soup, could you please explain how the use of 'another' would absolutely preclude 'will have studied'? No.2
The farmers had the tractors________ 24 hours during the harvest season.
a. working

<had them going, running>
b. work

causative <had them go, run>
If I'm not mistaken, a causative form can also be in the continuous.
I had the mechanic working on my truck this morning.
And I'm not sure what aspect of English would absolutely exclude,
I had the mechanic work on my truck this morning. If you wouldn't mind clearing this up, Soup. I'm sure it would be appreciated by all.
