1. Nick is the nickname of Nicholas. This can also work if we are talking about a specific person called Nicholas.

Of course, Specs is the nickname of Brian. (he wears spectacles)

Tubs is the nickname of Fred. (he's a bit overweight)

Dick is the nickname of Richard. (he prefers it to Rick)
