what's "a hostile moral world"
Dear teachers,
Lately I have been studying English literature. I met this sentence about Christopher Marlowe'sFaustus: Faustus also reveals man's frustration in realizing the high aspirations in a hostile moral order.
I can not understand "a hostile moral order" , what does it mean? Does it mean "bad world" or what?
Thanks a lot
yours

Re: what's "a hostile moral world"
Dr Faustus is suborned by Satan to abandon his Christian ethics and subscribe to a hostile moral world - that of the Devil, a world in which the moral basis is hostile to God's moral basis.
