Article for Economic growth
Hi,
I read the following article in the media. I feel there should be ‘the’ before 'economic growth', as the sentence is talking about the economic growth in Cambodia. Am I correct in that? Also why did the author avoided the article?
GS Engineering & Construction Corp., South Korea's third-largest builder, plans to develop $975 million of real-estate projects in Cambodia, tapping home and office demand fueled by [ ]economic growth
Thanks,
MG.

Re: Article for Economic growth
I guess it should be without "the" because reference here is generic, i.e. economic goroth in general.
The reason why "the" is sometimes ignored or used stems from the fact that articles are used to make one of three types of references: specific, generic or unique.

Re: Article for Economic growth
But as the sentence suggest, we are talking about Cambodia's economic growth.

"the economic growth of the country" or "the country's economic growth"
If this is a newspaper/magazine piece it is quite normal for it to be written as it is in your post, newspapers often drop the articles etc. to make the text shorter and more 'punchy'.
