Default tense

Hello, teachers!

Please check if these sentences are correct and natural.
1. The survey found that girls grew up faster. It also found that girls had more intelligence.
2. The survey found that girls grow up faster. It also found that girls are more intelligent.

Thank you very much.
Peace!

Hi Jandi,

Welcome to. . . wherever we are this time. . . .

Both sets of sentences are OK, but (2) is preferably because girls still grow up faster and are more intelligent (. . . on average, of course). It is a condition which is still valid at the present. (In a paper, using the present tense also makes the findings more 'immediate' for the reader.)
