Default conditional sentences

Hello,

Are the following sentences correct?

If it hadn`t been for them(her,him...or?),i would have been in an awkward position.

If i knew that you were going to their party i would go with you.
If i knew that you are going to their party i would go with you.

If he passed that exam, would you say he was smart?
If he passed that exam, would you say he is smart?

All the best.

These two are a bit weird- do you know or not? If you're talking about the past, use 'If I'd known....Iwould have gone'.
