    She insulted me through him.

    Can't this sentence have two meanings:
    1-She insulted him in order to insult me.
    2-He insulted me, but it was because she had asked him to. He told me what she wanted to tell me.

    It's ambiguous, yes.

    1) She insulted me through him. (i.e., by referring to 'him')
    = She used John's name to insult me.

    2) She insulted me through him. (i.e., by having 'him' do it)
    = She had Max insult me.
