I would not tinker with my mother tongue. It evolves naturally, and things too complicated or unnecessary become archaic by themselves. We have a lot of archaic tenses in French. The process works.
If I need to fill some gaps, there are slang and colloquial expressions. They can even make it into the standard langague with some time.

Complex rules with tons of exceptions don't help, but simple rules do!

I believe that many rules will become simpler over time as the need for interntaional communication increases.

If rules become much simpler, a lot of questions in English forum will vanish. Much much much more spare efforts can be spent on more meaningful things (eg helping people who are suffering)

If questions from the forum vanish, then I'll be in trouble.
