Default You can't adjust things around a bit

What does "You can't adjust things around a bit?" mean? I can't get this one, could anybody elaborate on it for me, please? Thanks for your help.

V - Officially, all we're asking is for an exhumation order.
Lyle - An exhumation order? Oh, that's better digging up the vice president's brother. No way.
N - Oh, no, no, Lyle, look, We, we studied for the bar, day and night, in that crappy little apartment of yours, talking about how we're gonna make a difference.
Lyle - Nick, you filed an eleventh hour motion, and Judge Kessler's docket is full this afternoon...
N - Come on, Lyle, everyone knows you run that courtroom. You can't adjust things around a bit?
Lyle -... I'll give you 15 minutes this afternoon, that's it!
N - Thank you.

It means "can't you change the court schedule a little to fit my case in?"

You have to look at the phrase "adjust things around a bit" rather than just "around a bit" on it's own, it means to "move/rearrange/change the order or position of something a little."
