study hard?

Sir,

I read this in a book: the word "hard" is never used after "(students) study" in England or America. They don't say "(students) study hard".

Is that true? Do British or American students have no such a thing or they express that meanig in another way?

In China, we ofen express that meaning "刻苦学习"、“努力学习”.

While the collocation with 'students' isn't all that common, it is used. My feeling is that there's nothing wrong with it but that the occasion just doesn't arise as often. As a group, they probably don't study as hard as students in other cultures.

I've heard it, seen it, and used it, and it seems to be acceptable English, also, for the UCLA School of Law:
