Default it usage

What did you do with the book and the notebook?
1-The book, I put under the bed, and the notebook, I gave to John.
2-The book, I put it under the bed, and the notebook, I gave it to John.

Are both 1 and 2 gramatically acceptable replies to the first question?

(not a professional teacher) If I was trying to keep as much of the original structure as possible, I would say:
1-The book I put under the bed, and the notebook I gave to John.
2-The book? I put it under the bed, and the notebook I gave to John.

More natural for me would be simply, "I put the book under the bed and gave the notebook to John."
