Default Xinxing?

Hello Everyone,

Xinxing in Chinese is often used to describe the developing countries which is economically prosperous and have great potential in development, like Brazil, Russia, China and India, also known as the four golden brick countries. Can you tell me its equivalent in English?

Regards

Rising stars or rising is better? Emergent is not good here as in Longman it is defined as" in the early stages of existence or development:
the emergent nations of the world" . It seems to me that emergent should be translated as "刚刚成立的国家” 或“刚刚起步的国家”?I hope more replies about this will be given here?

And burgeoning is also a figurative anwer?

You are right about 'emergent'.

In the case of China and India, you could use the metaphors - the awakened dragon & the crouching tiger.

Some experts suggest dragon be replaced by Long-the pronouciation of 龙 as dragon in western concept is a evil creature in the hell.

I would like to know here how dragon is considered by westerners?

Often the media refers to "Tiger economies" in this context, in the 90s when the economy of Ireland was booming, the media were referring to it as the "Celtic Tiger".
