Which is the best fit and why?


1. What ________ one is the total absence of a coherent programme on the part of the ruling or the opposition party to give ________ to the poverty-stricken people that something will be done to improve their condition.

a) humiliates, promise b) frightens, hint c) astounds, feeling d) shakes, notion


2. Many of us who________ rational-emotive therapy are _____ tense, angry or depressed.

Thanks for the prompt reply but the answers are not correct! I think, for the first one, the answer is either c or d; and, for the second, it should again be between c and d.

Anyway, waiting for reply

2. Should be d).
1. Is problematic, none of the available pairs are cmpletely correct.

For 2. it depends whether it is the practitioner or the seeker who is talking.

For 1. I would like to understand exactly how "To give promise to" is correct.
