Blake Morrison is a British poet, Blake Edwards is a famous American film director, Sir Robert Blake was an admiral during the English Civil War.

If you want to be creative (which is all the rage in the US right now), you can use a name that is traditionally a surname as a Christian name or middle name. For example, you mentioned using a scientist as a name inspiration; how about Newton Edison (after Thomas Edison)? Or Isaac Winston (after Isaac Newton; I would avoid naming a child Isaac Newton or Newton Isaac; too obvious). If, for instance, you admire the poet Robert Burns, it wouldn't be unusual in the US to name your son Newton Burns (surname) or Winston Burns (surname). [Note: I'm trying to incorporate the two names you previously expressed a preference for, Winston and Newton.]

Since I was born and raised in the Detroit area, Henry Ford is a very prominent name when it comes to inventors/innovators. How about Henry Winston or Winston Ford? Two other prominent names in the scientific field are Charles Darwin and Benjamin Franklin - you could somehow combine those with your favorites (Charles Winston, Newton Benjamin, Franklin Charles etc.).

"Newton Fleming" is not bad, but "Fleming Winston" gives me an odd picture of a flaming winston. (I don't know what that is. Maybe a kind of food.)

Newton Fleming

Hm. Maybe a famous writer?

Newton Fleming sounds very nice and distinguished.Such a name conjures up images of a professional man, whether a doctor, attorney, scientist, or journalist. Fleming Winston, however, doesn't have that "ring" to it. And, sadly, people might shorten it to "Flem" which sounds like phlegm.
