Arrow Difference between recurring and recurrent themes?

In the name of the Merciful Allah,
Hi, I'm reading a book its writer describes the contents by saying: This introductory chapter alerts you to some additional issues, recurring themes, and.... Then, in the next page she says: You will also find that several themes reappear from time to time. These recurrent themes are as basic to.....as the underlying melody or motif to a musical composition.
Well, is there any significant difference between recurring and recurrent themes?

Recurring is a verb-turned-adjective whereas recurrent is an adjective.

Thank you guys for these useful replies. fortunately, I found an answer on Cambridge Dictionaries Online - Cambridge University Press
I just had some doubt, because I already know that verb forms with -ing and -ed endings are different from each other.
