Just a student.
I think #1 is the most common.
When you forget something and talk about what you've forgotten, you usually say it in the past.
#2 seems to be possible to me, but right now I just can't think of a situation where you can use it.
Maybe "I almost forget to tell you that your mother called and asked you to call her back." but "forgot" seems also to fit well in this example, right?
