Default beside oneself

Hi, everyone!

Is it possible to say 'I was beside myself playing computer games.'?
Well... the intended meaning is...
'I was too absorbed in playing...' or 'I was into playing...'

Is it necessary we use 'be beside oneself' with emotions, such as anger, sadness or happiness... etc?

Any other suggestions to express this idea?

Thank you in advance!

Default Re: beside oneself

Beside myself, very upset, very worried, at loose ends. Ex: She was beside herself with grief when her sister died.

Idioms: bend over backwards -- best laid plans
