He has not made a repeat perfofomance or written another novel as good as the first one.

To replicate is do make an exact copy of.
I wonder how this can be applied to literary works. I mean, what is the point of making an exact or similar copy of a novel?
Another word to use is 'emulate' which is to equal or better.

not a teacher

The text doesn't suggest that the novel should be replicated, but that the feat of writing a novel as good as the first had not yet been replicated.

This is quite a sentence!
After his successful first novel, critics lionized the young writer as a literary virtuoso, though he has yet to replicate the feat.

Does he have to 'replicate' being lionised = being given a lot of public attention and approval; treated as a celebrity?
or, if it relates to the novel, then I wonder, how many 'first novels' can one write?

'replicate the feat' should have been something along the lines of 'proving this is not a flash in the pan.'
