## Middle section of the page?

Tony BUzan wrote these in his "The speed reading books":
An important question at this juncture is: do you need to move the guide along the entire line ( he presented the visual guide techniques at that point)
The answer to this quetion may be found in the common knowledge that speed readers read down the middle of the page. This is often misinterpreted as meaning that their eyes go in a straight line down the centre. This is not the case. What they do is to read down the middle section of the page
A little confuse here. What is the middle section of the page? Is he alluding the middle of every line? If not, then I interpret it as "eyes go down in a straight line down the centre" as others, but he said that interpretion was wrong in his comment above. So what does he mean in the last sentence?

Would the template on page 11 here http://www.sdesa6.org/content/docs/M...arning_000.pdf help?

Known: top quarter of the page
New: middle section of the page
Next: bottom quarter of the page

But Soup, if the pencil just move around the middle section of the page, how can we read both the top and the end of that page?

## Re: Middle section of the page?

Hello,
An learner not a teacher,

That's how I understand the passage.

---------------------------
|...........|...........|...........|
|...........|.middle..|...........|
.
.
.............|.section|
.............|....of....|
.
|...........|..the ....|...........|
|...........|..page...|...........|
----------------------------

Their eyes go along the middle of each line not along the whole line.
But it's not true that they have so wide eye span that they can see an entire line just looking at the point in the middle of line.

Cheers,

I have the same thought as yours. So that means we have to move our eyes around the middle of the line, and look at words before and after it, right?

As in the colored part:
I have the same thought as yours. So that means
we have to move our eyes around the middle
of the line, and look at words before and after it, right?

Hi Belly_ttt,

OK, I'll try my best.

12.............. () .............13

The key to understand it is the eyes span. When you have wide enough eyes span you see the numbers 12 and 13 without looking at them, you just look at (). You don't have to move yours eyes from () to read 12 and 13.
Hope that helps you.

Cheers,
(May an expert amend my posts, please )
