| I'm not a teacher but just a student. I would use "rather than" because one uses "than" in comparative statements whereas "then " is used as a time maker or with a sequence of events. Cheers |

| Here's a quick trick: rather ends in -er, so -er + than; e.g., bigger than, smaller than, rather than, etc. |
